The Regina Retriever Club has been officially approved to host the 2009 National Amateur Field Trials!  Ernie Rose will chair the committee but there will be a lot of work to do and we hope that everyone in the club will get involved - there is a job for everyone...no matter how small it may appear.  75% of the work happens before the event begins-participation throughout the year is required even if you can't be there for the National.  There is a meeting planned for August - details and dates will be announced later.  If you need more information please go to these links: www.nrcc-canada.com and www.working-retriever.com and check out this years National websites for Canada and USA. 

When you renew your 2009 membership and come out to the tech water for the first time, be prepared for a surprise. We have finally reached the west side of our property and we are now working south. At this writing the northwest corner is finished except  for one small excavation and the construction of a berm. We expect these two items to be finished before spring. Your dogs will see three long points plus an island in this northwest location. The damaged point has also been repaired by hand thanks to the efforts of four members. When the north and west sides are totally completed -- hopefully in 2009 -- it is our plan to eradicate the willows and weeds, haul in topsoil and earth and re-seed the total property. Keep in mind that at the present time the weeds and willows are important for holding the sandy points, islands, roads etc. in place. Our present washouts will be fixed before 2009. The next phase will target the south and east sides -- probably starting in 2010.
Thanks to the cooperation of our neighbours -- Croft Aggregates -- the RRC land/construction committee is still operating at zero budget.
